Retail stores facing delays due to supply chain issues
MCADENVILLE, NC (WBTV) – A small business owner in McAdenville says it’s harder than ever to have items in stock.
In the heart of McAdenville, better known as Christmastown USA, you’ll find Mona’s shop and gifts.
They’re well known for their vacation items and knick knacks, but owner Mona Fore says ordering items this year is taking longer than usual.
“Usually you can order something and get it within two weeks,” Fore said.
Fore typically orders her Christmas items in January – and gets them within months, but it’s mid-October and she doesn’t even have half the supply.
“One of our biggest suppliers, Raz, we just got a third of our order from them. Normally we have it now, so we were told there was more to come, ”Fore said.
She says international products like the Yeti that are made in China are hard to find.
Fore says she was able to get the seasonal and new versions, but struggled to get the everyday colors.
“Currently I have back orders since March which I ordered for this year,” she said.
Fore was also unable to secure its first choice of colors and sizes for its bespoke shirts and wood for engraved items like cutting boards and plaques.
Christmas is 70 days away, but Fore says buyers shouldn’t be taking a long time on their wishlists.
“Go ahead, make their list and just start shopping for fear that you won’t have the products available so close to Christmas,” Fore said.
Each December, thousands of people visit McAdenville for Christmastown USA events.
Despite the delays, Fore is confident that they will have enough supply to meet demand.
“Other vendors have started to come in, so we’re very prepared,” she said.
